Insurance and Fees for Counseling with Laura
Should I use insurance for counseling?
What are the benefits of using insurance and what are the negatives?
How much does counseling cost?
All of these are great questions people have when they are looking into counseling for themselves or a family member. I'll do my best to answer them, but every situation is different and there are many different types of coverage. Please check with me and your insurance company to determine what works best for you.
I am able to accept Aetna and Kaiser insurances. Please call me direct to discuss your coverage and so I can verify your insurance. When you call, please have your insurance information including type of insurance, policy number and date of birth of the covered person. I will try to verify your benefits as quickly as possible.
I also am able to bill directly for Victims of Violent Crime, and some EAP coverage. I also provide a superbill for out-of-network coverage with other insurance companies. If you do not see your insurance listed here, please call and talk wtih me about it. It is usually easy to find out what kind of coverage you have for out-of-network providers, and I can help make the process as easy as possible. You can reach me at 562-716-3461 to talk about your situation.
Using insurance is a complex issue when it comes to counseling. Many insurance companies limit how many sessions you can use insurance for, and sometimes insurance companies make decisions about the type of counseling you can have if you use insurance. This may not be the best situation for you, because you should be in charge of your own counseling. Using insurance, however, can sometimes help to keep costs down and make counseling more accessible for people.
